Low Sulphur Heavy Stock

Low Sulphur Heavy Stock (LSHS) refers to a type of residual fuel oil used in various industrial applications, particularly in marine vessels and power generation. It is a heavy, viscous liquid derived from the refining process of crude oil. LSHS contains a lower amount of sulfur compared to traditional heavy fuel oil (HFO), making it more environmentally friendly and compliant with stricter emission regulations, such as those set by the International Maritime Organization (IMO). The reduction in sulfur content helps to minimize air pollution and mitigate environmental impacts associated with combustion processes, such as the emission of sulfur oxides (SOx) and particulate matter

As a top channel partner, distributor, and stockist, MAITRI METAL (P) LIMITED is dedicated to offering premium Low Sulphur Heavy Stock (LSHS) for various industrial uses, including marine fuel, power generation, and industrial heating. Our focus on quality and regulatory compliance, coupled with our expertise in refining and handling LSHS, ensures efficient and environmentally responsible energy solutions

Specification of Low Sulphur Heavy Stock

  • Density : Typically ranging from 0.92 to 0.98 grams per cubic centimeter (g/cm³).
  • Viscosity : Usually falls within the range of 180 to 380 centistokes (cSt) at 50°C.
  • Flash Point : The flash point of LSHS is generally above 60°C.
  • Sulfur Content : LSHS is characterized by its low sulfur content, often below 1.0% by weight. This is significantly lower than conventional heavy fuel oil, which can contain sulfur levels exceeding 3.5%.
  • Pour Point : The pour point, indicating the lowest temperature at which the oil remains fluid, typically ranges from -15°C to 25°C.
  • Ash Content : The ash content is usually less than 0.1% by weight.
  • Carbon Residue : The carbon residue may range from 8% to 20% depending on the specific grade and application.
  • Heating Value : LSHS typically has a high heating value, ranging from about 38 to 42 megajoules per kilogram (MJ/kg).
  • Calorific Value : The calorific value of LSHS is high, ranging from 40 to 45 megajoules per kilogram (MJ/kg) or approximately 10,000 to 11,000 kilocalories per kilogram (kcal/kg).
  • Compatibility : LSHS should be compatible with the systems and engines in which it is being used, ensuring efficient combustion and minimal fouling or corrosion

Application

Low Sulphur Heavy Stock (LSHS) is a versatile fuel used in Marine Vessels, Power Generation, Cement Manufacturing, Industrial Heating, Heavy Machinery, District Heating Systems, and Other Heavy Industries where reliable and cleaner-burning fuels are essential. With its low sulfur content, LSHS helps meet emissions regulations while providing efficient energy for propulsion, heating, and electricity generation
