Specification

  • Viscosity : Viscosity measures the fluid's resistance to flow. Different grades of fuel oil have different viscosity ranges, typically measured in centistokes (cSt) at a specific temperature. Lower viscosity oils are easier to pump and atomize, while higher viscosity oils may require preheating to improve flow characteristics.
  • Flash Point : This is the temperature at which the vapor of the fuel oil can ignite when exposed to an ignition source. Flash point is an important safety consideration, especially for handling and storage.
  • Sulfur Content : Sulfur content in fuel oil is regulated due to its environmental impact. Lower sulfur content fuels are cleaner burning and produce fewer sulfur emissions, which can contribute to air pollution and acid rain.
  • Pour Point : The pour point is the lowest temperature at which the fuel oil will flow under specific conditions. It's particularly important for fuel oil that may be used in cold climates, as oils with high pour points can become too viscous and difficult to pump or burn.
  • Ash Content : Ash content refers to the residue left behind when the fuel oil is burned. Higher ash content can lead to increased maintenance requirements for equipment and may affect combustion efficiency.
  • Density : Fuel oil density is typically measured in kilograms per liter (kg/L) or pounds per gallon (lb/gal). Density can affect storage and transportation requirements, as well as combustion characteristics.
  • Heating Value : Heating value, also known as calorific value, is the amount of heat released when a specific quantity of fuel is burned completely. It's usually expressed in units like British thermal units per gallon (BTU/gal) or megajoules per liter (MJ/L)
